Eric Plaks - Aquiles Navarro :: Windows to the World Beyond

WINDOWS TO THE WORLD BEYOND presents a collaboration between brass and wood, string and wire, electron and synapse, unfolding in the improvised regions of Sound-Space. Pianist Eric Plaks and trumpeter Aquiles Navarro (who also plays vocoder on track 2) met when they were accidentally double-booked with their respective groups on a gig in Harlem a few years back. A few weeks later they arranged a session together (this time on purpose) and Plaks-Navarro has been a musical unit working since then to forge a dynamic two-headed language of contrasts-within-unity.

The track titles and a portion of the overall mood of the recording session were inspired by a passage from J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Silmarillion".
