The phone rings...or it's a text or whatever we were using in those distant days of 2017...it's Rodney Chapman...we've played together since '02 around when he first started messing around on saxophone (Chapman started with rap and producing as Godfather Don, and then moved to guitar before landing at home in the land of Coltrane, Sanders, and Ayler)...do you want to play with William Parker and Ronnie Burrage...are you kidding me...no seriously...how did you swing that...never mind, do you want to play or not...of course!...my mind is flipping...the legendary WP, pillar of the NYC free jazz community...the crisp and hot Ronnie Burrage, of Wayne Shorter and McCoy Tyner fame and stature...add in a rising star, Aquiles Navarro on trumpet (check him out with Irreversible Entanglements)...add in a hot September evening, one of the last operating nights of the now sadly closed Wombat studio...some sweat...some star-struck moments that we've edited out of this recording...29 minutes that bring it with everything we've got...plus a sax solo from a City College recording session in Feb 2019...here it is folks...Rodney Chapman's Gnosis (Knows-Is)...featuring William Parker and Ronnie Burrage.
